Mission Statement

Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works is a multifaceted company whose mission is to foster awareness of dance as an art form that impacts lives in a direct, positive and evolving process.

Company Overview

Kinetic Works was formed in 2000. The company offers a spectrum of programs including educational experiences for schools through the Kinetyx Dance Ensemble and KinetiKids artist residencies; professional concert performances and pre-professional training through special workshops; and Martha's work as a contemporary choreographer and guest teacher of ballet and modern dance a make up another strand in the spectrum.

The company had its concert debut in July of 2003 at the Afro American Cultural Center in Charlotte. Audience attendance and response confirmed that Charlotte was ready and waiting for an exciting new professional dance company. Boasting a roster of the finest contemporary dancers in the Charlotte area, Martha's refreshing and unique choreographic work is a welcome addition to the menu of cultural arts in our growing city.

Kinetic Works receives annual funding from the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte Mecklenburg and the North Carolina Arts Council.

Martha and Dancers travel throughout the Carlonlinas with KINETYX Educational Dance Ensemble reaching over 30,000 viewers annually.

Community Partnerships

Kinetic Works has a history of partnering with other arts organizations, non-profits, businesses and creative individuals.  We believe the way to reach the largest number of people is to diversify our presence in the community.  We bring dance to people rather then waiting for them to come to us.
