Keep Kinetic Works Moving!

Wow, 2008 has arrived!

Kinetic Works had an energetic 2007 and expects more momentum in 2008!

Your generous donations can help Kinetic Works gain force. Kinetic Works is a progressive contemporary dance company providing cutting edge stage productions and regionally acclaimed education programs throughout Charlotte and the Carolinas. As one patron exclaimed, "Kinetic Works is the best kept secret in Charlotte." Well it's time to let everyone in on that secret but we can only do that with your help. We are here because you are here to support us.

We told you 2007 was energetic and here are some highlights.

Artistic Director, Martha Connerton, traveled to New York to restage her award winning ballet, " He Loves/She Loves: A radio Reverie." Also noteworthy were performances at the National Junior Achievement Awards honoring Ted Turner, Hugh McColl and others, the Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting with keynote speaker Ben Bernanke and Opera Carolina performances of Romeo et Juliette and Amahl and the Night Visitiors. As part of our community efforts, Kinetic Works performed, "Ageless Stories," at Davidson College in the Duke Family Theatrer in May, featuring a multi-generational cast of non-dancers. And over 20,000 students in Charlotte and the Carolinas benefited from our educational programming.

The NC Arts Council, Charlotte Arts and Science Council, and Arts Teach provide moderate funding for Kinetic Works programs, but what really ignite our energy are individual donations. That is where you come in. In 2008 we have an aggressive fundraising goal of $20,000.00 in individual donations. Kinetic Works has a passion for dance. We wish to share that passion with you in our schools and community. Together, we can place Charlotte on the national map for cultural arts.

Look at what Kinetic Works can do in 2008 with your contributions!

We will continue our educational outreach programs with KINETYX Ensemble and KINETIKids Residencies reaching close to 30,000 children. Kinetic Works performed with Opera Carolina at the Blumenthal PAC in Aida January 31-February 3. Our spring season will culminate with a repertory concert at Actor's Theatre of Charlotte on May 9 and 10. Featured works include the premiere of Bach's "St. John Passion Chorus", in collaboration with Vox Choir and Firebird Arts Alliance; "54321", a past audience favorite; a restaging of the evocative "Full Moon/Light Sonata" with music by Beethoven and Howlin' Wolf, and another new mystery work "TBA". In the fall of '08 we plan to perform in the Charlotte Dance Festival.

Lastly, we want to continue to meet our longtime supporters and gain new supporters with our ChoreoLab Open Rehearsal Series. Visit the studio at Spirit Square on Saturday April 12, at 3PM meet the dancers, witness the magic of the choreographic process and see your donations at work!!

Thank you for your support and let's keep Kinetic Works moving.

Sincerely,

Martha Connerton and Kinetic Works Board and Advisory Task Force

Richard Kingsberry, Harold Escalante, Tracy Morris, Dean Kluesner, Caroline Vallejo, Alyce Cristina Vallejo Moran, Mi Young Dempsey.
