A New Partnership Emerges

Classical Spanish Guitarist, Aris Quiroga and Contemporary Choreographer, Martha Connerton are teaming up to perform at two community celebrations in October. Aris invited Martha to perform with him at the Latin American Festival at Southpark on Oct. 9 and Martha invited Aris to perform with her at the Wells Fargo Celebration downtown on October 29.
Don't miss the fire and ice created by these two outstanding artists!

"We look forward to these two small performances as the start of an exciting and bigger creative partnership. We have very sympathetic artistic sensibilities." -Martha

Support this project and more upcoming Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works events in one of two ways:
1) Visit the ASC's new donor website, Power 2 Give and see our two projects posted there. The Knight Foundation will match all donations until their $100,000 matching gift is used up. As of today $65,000 of it has been committed to over 56 projects. Once that money is gone there will be no more matching dollars, so act now!! This link will take you directly to our projects. You'll be done in 2-3 minutes. Even $10 makes a difference.

Check Out Our Projects!

2) Do you like to have your cake and donate too? If so this is the most unique way to support our incredible educational programs and performance events. Martha Connerton doubles as "The Dancing Chef". Her edible creations are unique works of art, just like her choreography.

Grant News
Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works is pleased to announce the receipt of a $7,000 Arts and Audiences grant from the NC Arts Council for the 2011/12 fiscal year. The grant will fund a partnership with the New Mint Museum of Art Uptown and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Kinetic Works will present two weekend events entitled "Danstallations" that utilize works in the collections of each museum as inspiration for choreography. The choreography will be performed in the atrium of the Mint Museum followed by a scavenger hunt for participants to locate the art that inspired the choreography in the galleries and a reception/discussion in the lobby of the Bechtler Museum. Dates for the "Danstallations" are yet to be determined. Check back with us for updates.

Kinetic Works is also pleased to have received a $10,000 arts education residency grant for a partnership with Oak Hill Elementary School in Burke County, NC. The school applied for the Tier 1 Residency Grant to have a one-week KINETIKids Residency entitled "Figment of Yer ImagiNewton" based on Newton's Laws of Motion and a KINETYX Ensemble Performance of "Science in Motion". We will be conducting the residency in October of 2011 and the performance in February of 2012.
