Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works is pleased to announce the receipt of a $7,000 Arts and Audiences grant from the NC Arts Council for the 2011/12 fiscal year. The grant will fund a partnership with the New Mint Museum of Art Uptown and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Kinetic Works will present two weekend events entitled "Danstallations" that utilize works in the collections of each museum as inspiration for choreography. The choreography will be performed in the atrium of the Mint Museum followed by a scavenger hunt for participants to locate the art that inspired the choreography in the galleries and a reception/discussion in the lobby of the Bechtler Museum. Dates for the "Danstallations" are yet to be determined. Check back with us for updates.
Kinetic Works is also pleased to have received a $10,000 arts education residency grant for a partnership with Oak Hill Elementary School in Burke County, NC. The school applied for the Tier 1 Residency Grant to have a one-week KINETIKids Residency entitled "Figment of Yer ImagiNewton" based on Newton's Laws of Motion and a KINETYX Ensemble Performance of "Science in Motion". We will be conducting the residency in October of 2011 and the performance in February of 2012.
